The Mega Excavator is the 3rd and final tier of the Excavators (as of release 0.4.13). It Requires a Vehicles Depot III to build with 240 Vehicle Parts 3 III, 140 Steel, and 70 Diesel.

It consumes the Maintenance II instead of an Maintenance I. It also consumes Diesel about 2x (2.17x) as much as an Excavator and 5x as much as a Small Excavator.

The Mega Excavator Scoops 60 Loose Products at a time so using Haul Trucks Dump Variant when mining with them is Highly Recommended.

Just as every other Excavator Variant, it cannot travel under Transports and must use Vehicle Ramps to traverse over them.

Overview
Home Island is the island where you build on. It is the only location on the World Map, where you can zoom into.

** warning: this is no longer up-to-date with version 2. **

At the start of a new game, the player has 6 maps to choose from; each with it's own difficulty level, starting resources, land area and terrain types.

Additionally, the player has 6 further options to specify the map:
* Resources size
* Resources elevation
* Forest size
* Cliffs height
* Extra ocean chuncks
* Ocean floor decline

Maps
Currently there are 6 island maps:
New Haven
This is the easiest map, recommended for new players. (Difficulty level: Standard)
A mostly flat map, with an wide open starting area and all necessary starting resources close nearby.

The Beach
This map is for advanced players. (Difficulty level: Advanced)
A fairly flat map, but with starting area in a desert and most of the island's shores blocked by mountains. Has a second, smaller island.

Curland
This map is for advanced players. (Difficulty level: Advanced)
A fairly flat map, but shaped as a C-shaped atoll.

The Golden Peak
This map is for advanced players looking for additional challenges. (Difficulty level: Difficult)
A mountainous map, with a steep mountain at it's center.

Insula Mortis
This map is for advanced players looking for additional challenges. (Difficulty level: Difficult)
A Jolly Roger-shaped map, with multiple seperated landmasses.

You Shall Not Pass
This map is for expert players. (Difficulty level: Challenging)
A map which is mostly a plateau, with the exception of the starting area. Starting area has limited resources.
The Cargo Ship is an automated vehicle which transports resources from Map Locations to the Home Island. As of , there are always seven Damaged Cargo Ships visible and reachable on the map with repair costs increasing along with distance from the Home Island. As of version 0.5.3, there are only four Damaged Cargo Ships on the map, but one settlement offers a quick trade of one cargo ship in exchange for Construction Parts IV. (Like all quick trades, it can be taken more than once.)

A cargo ship's size is determined by its assigned Cargo Depot, with one ship section for each possible cargo depot module. When a Module is attached to the Cargo Depot, a corresponding container appears in the corresponding section of the ship. Each ship section has a fixed capacity: 360 for Unit and Loose materials, and 440 for Fluids. The speed at which each ship module can be loaded or unloaded depends on the size of the matching cargo depot module (see, for example: Fluid Module (S)).

The fuel used by a ship is dependent on the number of cargo modules built and the "Save Fuel" setting (the table below assumes all possible modules are built). The time required is dependent on the "Save Fuel" setting. The workers needed to operate the ship are determined by the size of the ship (and thus the size of the Cargo Depot -- regardless of the number and size of modules built). Note that the cargo modules also require workers based on their number and size. Both time and fuel are per trip, regardless of the ship's destination on the world map.

As of version 2.0, there are three different fuels for cargo ships: Diesel, Heavy Oil and Hydrogen.

The Ship is used for exploring the World Map and transporting loot from explored locations to the Home Island. Initially, the Shipyard has to be repaired, which then allows the player to repair the Ship as well. It can then be fueled with Diesel, and crewed by sailors, who are just workers. As you keep upgrading the ship, it will keep increasing the number of required sailors.

Before you repair a Cargo Ship, an Outpost, and setup automatic unloading at a Cargo Depot, you can send the Ship out to load cargo onto it instead. This is useful mostly for initial Wood and Crude Oil importing.

Once you add at least one weapon, it gains a "Battle Score", representative of how strong it is in battle. You should not attempt to defeat enemies at a location with a much higher score than the Ship. If the Ship is damaged in battle, it will need items such as Iron and Mechanical Parts to repair it, which gets more costly as you improve it.

Ship Upgrades
Overview
Parts of the ship can be upgraded. These upgrades increase the ships battle score, and exploration capabilities. In addition, the ship's appearance will change as upgrades are added.

Weapons and Armor
Mainly improve the battle score. You can add two instances of each.

Bridge
Increases the radar discovery range of the ship. This allows you to see further areas, and what they contain, although not the loot they have.

Also increases the battle score.

Engines
Increase the ship's movement speed and fuel capacity.

Fuel tanks
Increases the ship's fuel capacity.
