The Air Separator is a machine for creating both Oxygen and Nitrogen. The Oxygen generation capability makes this machine a requirement to operating Oxygen Furnaces to make Molten Steel and making Diesel from Fuel Gas in Cracking Units. The Nitrogen creation ability allows for the creation of Ammonia outside of petrochemical chains and is used directly in the creation of both Ammonia.
The Electrolyzer is the only other machine which can make these gases, however in comparison, it needs to consume Water or Ammonia to make them, respectively.
