Arc Furnace II
T2

This furnace has a cooling system to safely reach higher operating temperatures. This provides increased throughput and an opportunity to reuse some of the excess heat. Power requirements are increased as well.

An Arc Furnace II is a direct upgrade from the Arc Furnace machine. It carries twice the already-hefty Worker and Electricity requirement in addition to Water, some of which can be recovered by passing the byproduct Steam (High) through Cooling Towers. In exchange, it doubles throughput of Silicon smelting.

Additionally, it incorporates smelting recipes for Iron Ore Crushed, Copper Ore Crushed, and Glass Mix similar to those available in the Blast Furnace II which make it possible to replace all Blast Furnace II machines on the island. Notable differences between these recipes are that the Arc Furnace II requires a small amount of Graphite instead of a large amount of Coal. This change reduces the overall Coal requirement drastically for smelting Iron or Copper by 87.5% (12 vs 1.5 / 60 ) and for smelting Glass by 90% (15 vs 1.5 / 60 ). Coal consumption may be decreased even further by producing Graphite from Carbon Dioxide. Both recipes also produce 66% less Exhaust per unit produced. However, because of requiring much Electricity, Nuclear Reactor or many Solar Panels are practically required for effectively using these advantage.
