Medium Oil is a petrochemical liquid product produced when processing Crude Oil in the Distillation (Stage I). As Medium Oil cannot be flared nor dumped, the only two potential uses for it are further processing in the Distillation (Stage II) to create Light Oil and Diesel or burning it in a Boiler (Gas) to generate Steam (High).
The former option is much more common as it allows for the potential production of Rubber and Plastic, if so desired, while producing the same amount of Steam Hi while reducing the overall Air Pollution emitted. However, burning Medium Oil as in the latter option is a viable to reduce the complexity of power generation from petrochemical sources once the Exhaust Scrubber has been unlocked.
